Booking Conditions

Please read these conditions before confirming a safari with Birds & Environment Safaris.

1. Booking and payment

A 20% deposit is required to confirm a booking. The remaining balance is normally due 30 days before the safari starts. Last-minute bookings may have different payment arrangements, which will be confirmed with the guest.

Payments can be arranged by bank transfer or card. Card payments may attract a 5% processing surcharge. Any applicable bank or intermediary charges are the guest's responsibility.

2. Cancellation charges

Cancellation requests should be made in writing. The applicable charge is based on the number of days remaining before departure:

  • 30 days or more before departure: 30% of the services provided by Birds & Environment Safaris.
  • 29–15 days before departure: 50%.
  • 14–7 days before departure: 75%.
  • 6–0 days before departure: 100%.

These charges reflect commitments made for accommodation, transport, park services and other arrangements. Unused or uncompleted services are not refundable where the costs have already been incurred.

3. Changes to the safari

Wildlife, weather, road conditions, park regulations and other circumstances can require changes. We may adjust the route or order of activities when necessary for safety, practicality or to improve the guest experience.

If a vehicle develops a problem, we will arrange a suitable replacement where possible and work to make up reasonable lost safari time through additional safari hours or days when practical.

4. Group and vehicle arrangements

Safari vehicles accommodate up to 7 passengers. Unless a different arrangement is agreed in writing, a minimum of 2 guests is required for a safari booking.

5. Travel documents and insurance

Guests are responsible for having valid passports, visas, entry documents, required health certificates and appropriate travel insurance. We strongly recommend insurance that covers medical treatment, emergency evacuation and trip cancellation or interruption.

6. Safety and liability

Safaris and outdoor activities involve natural risks. We take reasonable steps to provide safe, professional services, but we cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property, illness, injury or death, delays, missed connections, severe weather, changes caused by road or park conditions, or other events outside our reasonable control, subject to applicable Tanzanian law.

7. Travel protection

Because unexpected events can affect a trip before or during travel, we recommend comprehensive travel protection. Guests should choose cover appropriate to the activities and destinations included in their itinerary.
